Facial Rejuvenation

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture (or Cosmetic Acupuncture) has become an increasingly sought-after treatment due to its gentle, effective, natural, and safe way to reduce the signs of aging.

Acupuncture can offer many benefits such as building collagen, toning muscle, improving circulation, and stimulating blood flow with no risk of scars, infections, rashes, or toxic build-up of chemicals for those who want to revitalize the look and feel of their skin. Unlike traditional cosmetic surgery, Chinese Medicine uses a holistic approach by changing the energy flow within the body to nourish all organs, including the largest organ, our skin. This allows for better sleep, increased energy, and optimal digestion. When the body is at a rested and healthy state on the inside, the outside will reflect a healthier and more youthful appearance. As part of a comprehensive facial rejuvenation program, treatments include integrating acupuncture, facial cupping and facial gua sha.

Facial Acupuncture

As we age, the muscles in our face gradually lose their tone and mass which causes sagging, wrinkling and a fatigued look. In Chinese Medicine, this is due to weakness of Qi and constitutional imbalances. By placing hair thin needles in acupuncture points along the meridians of the face and body, we can help strengthen Qi and address underlying issues as well as diminish signs of aging.

Facial Cupping

Facial cupping can be transformative by helping the skin regain its youthful appearance. This is achieved by “parking” a small glass cup on a wrinkle/blemish and moving it along the face/neck to drain lymphatic fluid and stimulate blood flow. Benefits include increased local circulation to the skin, drawing nutrients to the skin’s surface, draining stagnant fluids, easing puffiness and enhancing absorption of lotions and serums.

Facial Gua Sha

Facial gua sha is also used to increase blood circulation and help detoxify the face by moving stagnant blood and inflammation as well as drain toxins from the lymphatic system. Using specially crafted handheld pieces of smooth jade on the face/neck and jawline relieves tension in facial muscles, creating a deeply relaxing and calming state of mind. Deep lines, such as those between the eyebrows and on the forehead are also gently massaged.

These techniques can also loosen rigid muscles and relieve the tension and pain of TMJ (temporomandibular joint) along the ears and jawline as well as alleviate sinus congestion and reduce headaches.

Both facial cupping and facial gua sha along with acupuncture treat a variety of skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, melasma and dark circles. This treatment also helps to diminish and at times, eliminate wrinkles, sagging skin, and puffiness. With a consistent series of Facial Rejuvenation treatments, a multitude of results can be achieved including:

  • Erasing fine lines

  • Diminishing deeper wrinkles

  • Lifting sagging eye lids, reducing under eye bags/circles

  • Firming up jowls & minimizing double chin

  • Improving muscle tone and increasing collagen production

  • Eliminating puffiness by improving metabolism and eliminating excess fluids

  • Improving hormonal balance & reducing hormonal acne

  • Increasing circulation of blood and lymph to the face and highlighting natural glow

  • Reducing the appearance of scars and age spots

  • Moisturizing the skin and tightening pores

  • Reducing stress evident in the face

  • Promoting sound sleep

  • Increasing digestion

  • Slowing the aging process from within

  • Enhancing overall health and well being

A course of 12-14 sessions (1-2 times per week) is recommended for maximum benefits followed by a treatment every four to six weeks for maintenance. While improvements are often noticeable after three to four visits, a full course allows for more deep and lasting results. Effects usually last anywhere from eighteen months to three years with maintenance. Results vary from person to person and is dependent on body constitution and overall treatment goals.
